Climate Change and Economic Behavior
Trends and Frontiers
About the Project
This research initiative examines how climate change influences the behavior of economic agents, with a particular focus on how individuals, firms, and industries adapt to evolving environmental and regulatory contexts.
The project explores the economic and behavioral responses to climate pressures, emphasizing how decision-making processes, sustainability strategies, and adaptive mechanisms shape organizational and market outcomes. By integrating insights from environmental economics, behavioral science, and sustainability studies, this research seeks to advance the understanding of how economic systems can transition toward climate-resilient and low-carbon models.
Research Focus
The project investigates how climate change shapes economic agents’ behavior, focusing on three interrelated dimensions:
- Organizational Adaptation: How firms—especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)—respond to environmental uncertainty, regulation, and stakeholder pressure.
- Individual and Market Behavior: How consumers, workers, and investors adjust their choices in response to climate risks and sustainability transitions.
- Economic Valuation of Climate Impacts: How environmental changes affect local and regional economies, particularly in tourism, agriculture, and natural resource sectors.
Together, these lines of research provide a comprehensive understanding of the behavioral foundations of climate action and economic resilience.
My Role as Principal Researcher
As Principal Researcher, I lead the conceptual development, methodological design, and empirical analysis of the project. This involves coordinating interdisciplinary collaborations, conducting bibliometric and econometric analyses, and integrating cross-sectoral insights from both developed and developing contexts.
My work aims to connect academic research and policy practice, offering evidence-based insights that can guide governments, businesses, and civil society in designing effective climate strategies.
