Corporate Governance and Sustainable Performance
Recent Trends and Global Discussions
About the Project
This research initiative explores how corporate governance systems influence sustainable outcomes in organizations. The project aims to deepen our understanding of the mechanisms through which board composition, ownership structures, and strategic interactions foster or constrain corporate sustainability.
By examining governance from a multidimensional perspective—spanning institutional, organizational, and behavioral layers—the project contributes to both academic theory and practical insights for policymakers and business leaders.
Research Focus
The project investigates how corporate governance shapes sustainable outcomes, emphasizing the dynamic relationships between board decision-making, stakeholder engagement, and long-term value creation.
Specifically, it examines:
- How internal governance mechanisms interact to support environmental and social responsibility.
- The role of board networks and social learning in diffusing sustainability practices.
- How ownership patterns and control structures evolve and influence corporate accountability.
- The long-term historical trajectories of governance reforms within emerging economies.
By bridging corporate governance theory with sustainability and institutional research, the project advances the conversation on how organizations can align profitability with ethical and environmental stewardship.
My Role as Principal Researcher
As Principal Researcher, I lead the conceptual and empirical development of the project. My responsibilities include coordinating international collaborations, designing bibliometric and longitudinal studies, and supervising the data collection and analysis phases.
The research integrates quantitative bibliometric mapping, network analysis, and historical institutional approaches to uncover evolving governance trends and their implications for sustainable performance.
This project forms part of my broader research agenda on responsible corporate behavior and governance innovation within Latin American and global contexts.
